The City of Littleton and the Colorado Department of Transportation are launching an intersection improvement project along Platte Canyon Road. Intersection work will occur at the intersections of South Platte Canyon Road and West Bowles Avenue at Mile Point 5.3 and South Platte Canyon Road and West Mineral Avenue at MP 7.4. The project is expected to be completed by mid-summer.
The first phase of the intersection project will happen over a two-month period at the intersection of South Platte Canyon Road and West Mineral Avenue. The work will include enhancing pedestrian and bicycle safety, resolving traffic conflicts, improving bus stop access, and upgrading signal equipment. The design incorporates various improvements to accessible pedestrian ramps, pedestrian and bicycle crossings, expanded turning lanes, bus stop enhancements and upgraded signal equipment. By mid-May, crews will move operations to the next intersection at South Platte Canyon Road and West Bowles Avenue. Jalisco International, Inc., of Commerce City, is the contractor for this project.
The intersection improvements of separated crossings will ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. The improvements will also include the installation of all-new, advanced signal equipment to modernize traffic management. Upgraded bus stops will enhance accessibility and convenience for public transportation users.
