Overview

Pedestrian bridges provide important transportation connections for pedestrians (and bicyclists, when allowed) to cross obstacles such as roads and waterways. When crossing over roads, pedestrian bridges reduce conflicts with vehicles, reducing the risks of crashes.

Similar to other transportation facilities and infrastructure, pedestrian bridge infrastructure experiences aging and environmental impacts. This requires maintenance and repair to keep the bridges safe for the traveling public. Through observations, assessments, and community input, the city has identified three pedestrian bridges that need repairs:

  • The Nevada Street Bridge is located along Nevada Street between Prince Street and Curtice Street and crosses the Littles Creek Trail and Littles Creek. This bridge will be replaced in 2026.
  • The Littles Creek/Echo Star Pedestrian Bridge is located east of Santa Fe Drive, west of South Platte River, and crosses the Littles Creek. The deck slats and railing north of the bridge will be repaired in 2026.
  • The Geneva Park Pond Pedestrian Bridge is located in the northwest corner of the Geneva Park Pond, south of Crestline Avenue and east of Prince Street. The deck slats will be repaired in 2026.
