Hannah’s journey began at the age of 12 when she entered the workforce to contribute to her family’s household bills. Starting in the food service industry, she eventually found herself as a barista and took much joy in serving the morning customers. However, she realized that working as a barista alone would not be the path she needed to break free from poverty.

Determined to pursue a higher education and create meaningful change in the lives of others, Hannah worked her way through college to become a teacher. For six years, she dedication herself to educating students in low-income high schools, aiming to provide them with a pathway out of poverty.

Once Hannah had children of her own, she found it difficult to financially support her family in her current role. It was during this time that she discovered a new passion – roasting coffee.

Living near a neighbor who roasted coffee in his garage, she learned everything she could about the process. When the time came for her neighbor to sell his coffee roasting business, Hannah jumped at the opportunity. Trusting her instincts, she purchased the business, founding Copper Door Coffee Roasters 10 years ago. This decision marked her love for teaching, passion for learning, and desire to help others.

Over the years, Hannah has been able to expand this home-based business into four different locations around the Denver metro area. When choosing to locate in Littleton, she had a goal of reaching more people and making a positive impact on this community.

For Hannah, owning a coffee business is more than just a means of making a living. It’s a platform to continue learning, to provide people with a product they love, and most importantly, to support women around the world. Copper Door Coffee Roasters sources the majority of its coffee from women farmers, enabling the business to have a direct impact not only locally but globally. She understands that the more coffee they sell, the more women they can support, creating a ripple effect of positive change.

Hannah Ulbrich’s journey from a barista and teacher to the owner of a successful coffee roasting business is not just a story of entrepreneurial success but also a testament to the power of following one’s passion to create a positive change. As she celebrates a decade of success, Hannah continues to inspire others to follow their dream and make a difference in the world, one cup of coffee at a time.
