The City of Littleton is improving multimodal facilities to enhance safety and to provide integral connections for both pedestrians and bicyclists. The Mineral Station Area Multimodal Improvements project provides enhanced connectivity between the RTD light rail station, surrounding neighborhoods, and the Mary Carter Greenway Trail, an integral component of the regional trail system. This project is part of the 10-year plan identified by the Santa Fe Drive Action Plan.
In 2022, Arapahoe County submitted a grant application for the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) administered by Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) for the multimodal improvements on the west side Mineral Station to better connect the Station to Mary Carter Greenway. These improvements include new bicycle and enhanced pedestrian sidewalks along Platte River Parkway and Carson Drive to the Mary Carter Greenway Trail. The city was awarded $2.395M for the completion of this project, which is split 90% federal funding ($2.153M) and 10% local match ($242K).
This is one of many projects in the Mineral Station area that will be constructing high comfort bike and pedestrian facilities. The other projects include Mineral Mobility Improvements, and the Santa Fe and Mineral Intersection Improvements.
