The Mineral Station Multimodal Improvements project provides enhanced safety and connectivity for both pedestrians and bicyclists between the RTD Mineral light rail station, surrounding developments, the Carson Nature Center and the Mary Carter Greenway Trail, an integral component of the regional trail system.
In 2022, Arapahoe County applied for and was awarded Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) administered by Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) to fund the multimodal improvements on the west side of the RTD Mineral Station to better connect the Station to Mary Carter Greenway and adjacent neighborhoods. These improvements include new bicycle facilities and enhanced pedestrian sidewalks along the Platte River Parkway and Carson Drive to the Mary Carter Greenway Trail. The total project budget is $3.3 million with the City and Arapahoe County each contributing $575,000.
This project is part of the 10-year plan identified by the Santa Fe Drive Action Plan. This is one of many projects in the Mineral Station area that will be constructing high comfort bike and pedestrian facilities. The other projects include improvements along Mineral Avenue, east of the RTD Mineral Station, and the Santa Fe and Mineral Intersection Improvements.

The improvements planned for this project include:
Constructing a new raised cycle track and pedestrian sidewalk to provide a high-comfort bike and pedestrian facility along the east side of Platte River Parkway between Mineral Avenue and Carson Drive. The existing vehicle travel lanes along Platte River Parkway will be reconfigured to provide addition space for these multimodal improvements. The raised cycle track will connect to planned cycle track along Platte River Parkway south of Mineral Avenue.
Upgrading the existing four-way stop intersection at Platte River Parkway and Carson Drive to a roundabout configuration to enhance safety.
Restriping Carson Drive to include advisory bike lanes along both sides of the roadway. Providing additional signing and striping within the South Platte Park trailhead and Carson Nature Center parking lot to provide safety enhancements.
Improving the accessibility of the existing sidewalk in the southwest corner of the Mineral Station Park-and-Ride lot, connecting the plaza of pedestrian bridge to the park-and-ride.
Community members will have a chance to review preliminary (30%) design and provide input in Spring 2025.
