map of Lee Gulch Stabilization at Carbone Park

This project, funded by Mile High Flood District, addresses stabilization of the banks of Lee Gulch through Carbone Park, from near Elati Street to near Heritage High School.   This erosion threatens stabiliaty of the trail and adjacent private properties with retaining walls.  The project will replace the pedestrian bridges that cause additional erosion, and collect debris in floods. Some trees will require removal with the project, and will be replaced.

The project design team modified the design based on feedback from a public meeting in March 2021.

The project is in permitting process with FEMA and Army Corps of Engineers, and anticipated to start construction in summer or fall of 2023.
